Child dies after being struck by car in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOILS – The driver of a car that struck and killed a child in Minneapolis is cooperating with police.

On October 31, 2015 at 9:25 pm, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to the area of Memorial Parkway and Knox Avenue North on a report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries.

Upon arrival, officers found a 5 year old boy in critical condition. Preliminary investigation showed that the 5 year old boy was hit by a car as he crossed the parkway. The boy became trapped under the car that hit him.

The boy was transported to North Memorial Medical Center where he later died.

The Medical Examiner will provide the identity of the deceased, along with the nature and cause of death.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash. The driver of the striking car stopped and is cooperating with investigators.
