MASON CITY – Police were called to a Mason City park this week after a person was found unresponsive in a car.
Police tell NIT that on October 27, 2015, at 9:46 AM, a citizen reported a parked car at Frederick Hanford Park (the park’s main entrance is at 23rd and South Monroe Avenue) that had not moved in a while and there appeared to be a person passed out or asleep inside. Police were called to investigate and arrived on the scene to investigate. Officers found the single occupant, a 47-year-old male (whom they did not name) from Fairfax, Iowa, deceased in the car.
The cause of death has been determined by the medical examiner to be a suicide. No further information was released.
