MASON CITY – “They cut the baby’s face open so they can get that fresh baby’s brain” a woman told Iowa Governor Terry Branstad this week while he visited Mason City.
Branstad was called upon this week while holding a town hall meeting in Mason City to defund Planned Parenthood by a woman who went into graphic detail on the abortion process. He’s been under constant pressure for weeks from many who want the agency defunded by the state.
A woman with a large stack of papers and a wavering voice told Branstad that it’s time to defund Planned Parenthood, describing the abortion process as she believes it happens which includes “no painkillers”. She claimed the “babies are manipulated” so that Planned Parenthood can “get better body parts”.
She told the governor that Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal had defunded the agency and blamed Obamacare and big corporations for continuing to send funds its way.
Branstad rebutted by saying the state of Iowa gives “no direct funding” to Planned Parenthood and said Senator Joni Ernst was working to thwart the agency. He said the threat of lawsuits was one reason he had not went after the agency with more vigor.

I do not believe anyone should use abortion as birth control but it is an individuals decision and not the governments or other people. It is too bad people can not have child of their own but they do not have the right to expect it to be manatory someone else carry a baby for them. What kind of care would the mother who is forced to carry a baby to term give that fetus.
I think a woman who doesn’t want a child should take a pregnancy test every month whether she is on birth control or not. If it is positive and she wants to abort, she needs to do it immediately before the fetus is 8 weeks and all the cells are differentiated into limbs. I also think a woman should be able to abort for rape, incest, and non-survivable non-mental conditions for herself before 24 weeks or non-survivable medical conditions for the fetus at any point. Most fetuses can now survive delivery at 24 weeks. There is no need to kill them. By non-survivable medical conditions for the fetus, I mean physical deformities or genetic conditions that are always terminal and have no treatment that will lead to death. My definition would not include Down Syndrome.
@Katie-Finally a common sense solution other than just killing babies. There are reasons for abortion. Just because a woman was to lazy to take birth control which is free and available is not one of them.
I’m also on the fence on this issue. If the baby is going to born an addict because the mother has been using drugs, or if the baby was conceived from rape, then it might be ok to abort if it’s done very early. But if the baby is unwanted, there are so many people that want to adopt, and the baby would go to a good home. It’s a tough issue, no doubt.
all I can say is all the people that don’t believe in abortion need to adopt all the kids that aren’t wanted! that shuts them up right there!!!

I’m basically on the fence with this issue, because I believe what a person does with they’re body is they’re business. They are the ones that have to live with themselves. There is to much government intervention in our lives, because of people like the woman in the video.

I don’t know if she had a bible, but I was disappointed the Governor let her drone on and on. A simple “is there a question in our future” would have went a long way. Maybe she was planted there.
She is crazy. I’ve dealt with her for 5+ years. She’s very nice, but will turn into the “god will burn you in hell” lunatic in seconds. When she can get her point across without sounding so ill, then she can be taken serioisly.
