FRANKLIN COUNTY – A Clear Lake woman was stopped and arrested in Franklin county for drunk driving with two children inside her vehicle.
Jessica Gunsallus, age 31 of Clear Lake, was arrested by the Iowa State patrol on July 10, 2015 after a short pursuit in Franklin county. According to court records, Gunsallus was speeding and following another vehicle too closely. Law enforcement from Hamilton county, Franklin county and the Iowa State Patrol were involved with Gunsallus that day. NIT is told she was spotted by an Iowa State Patrol airplane, which lead to the pursuit.
Once Gunsallus was stopped and investigated, the Iowa State Patrol charged her with first offense operating while intoxicated. Due to the fact that two children, ages 12 and 10, were also in the vehicle, she was charged with two counts of child endangerment. She will be arraigned on those charges in Franklin county on October 19.
Gunsallus was also charged with speeding on the same day in Hamilton county. She is accused of going 16-20 miles per hour over the speed limit. In addition, she was ticketed for following too close. She will appear in court in Hamilton county on October 20 to answer for those charges.
