Iowa man charged with fondling children gets probation

CHARLES CITY / CEDAR RAPIDS – A Cedar Rapids man accused of sexual abuse of children in two different counties escaped the most serious charges in plea deals.

Kobey R. Pohlman, age 18, stood charged with sexually abusing two underage girls in Linn county and another female child in Floyd county.

In an appearance in Floyd county district court on September 9, a plea deal reduced a charge of 2nd degree sexual abuse to indecent contact with a child. The sexual incident took place in December of 2014. In a deferred judgement, Pohlman was sentenced to two years of probation, must submit a DNA sample, and must register as a sex offender. He was also ordered to pay $26,306.05 in court costs and other fees.

In an appearance in Linn county district court on September 15, two counts of 2nd degree sexual abuse were dismissed. In a deferred judgement, Pohlman was given 5 years of probation and ordered to pay $766.55 in court costs.
