MASON CITY – As an investigation now continues in the death of young William Whipple, police are asking for an end to speculation and for persons with knowledge to come forward.
Police today told NIT that speculation is rampant in the community regarding the circumstances that may have led to the death of 20-year-old William Whipple. William was injured this past weekend, hospitalized, and later passed away. Police are worried that a rush to judgement will cause even more problems.
Any further developments in this death investigation will hinge on autopsy results – which could take weeks or even months to be returned to police – NIT is told.
In the meantime, a rush to judgement in not advised. Police are asking for anyone who may have been with William since this past weekend until the time of his death or anytime in between to please phone the police dispatch at 641-421-3636 and speak to an officer on duty. Leaving a message would not be best; it is advised to speak directly to an officer.

And if Will was taking prescription Xanax illegally and was the cause of his death the person that sold him the Xanax should be charged with involuntary manslaughter, like with any other drug. I would hope if he was in contact with police, they would have requested a alcohol & drug analysis they would know he had Xanax in his system and if levels were high I’m guessing they would take the necessary precautions knowing withdrawal from Benzos is really dangerous. But, blunt force trauma could still be the cause of death days after incident.

I think the police should park right on the street in front of the drug dealers houses, until they get a call. Instead of them parking in some lot, sit in front of the dealers houses. And continue to do this over and over. Let these drug dealers know that they are not wanted here and to take their business back to Chicago and Detroit where they came from. Doctors ask if you are taking any drugs or are using alcohol and they ask how much you are using. If you lie to the doctor and don’t tell them what you use and how much, they can’t advise you proper treatment. Simple as that.
And 10 bucks says he lied to the Dr. and his death was a combination of prescription drugs and whatever else he was playing with from the streets. Possibly booze combo too. Autopsy will tell. IF we hear or it’s reported. Family doesn’t have to release that info. This is still just an investigation. No one is being sought on a warrant for the death. Tho some have already deemed someone guilty in the court of public opinion.

Obviously if his jaw was wired shut I doubt he would be consuming alcohol and if it was a combination of drugs and alcohol you would think they would have done some sort of toxicity screen if he was. Usually you can clearly tell if someone is under the influence.
Tox screens can take weeks to come back from autopsies.

The only similarities with Heroin withdrawal and Benzo withdrawal is that they both should be supervised other than that there’s nothing simular about the two. Speaking from experience with heroin withdrawal. Benzo withdrawl is more simular to alcohol withdrawal. Benzo withdrawal is the most dangerous along with alcohol withdrawal.
Not saying this was the case. But no matter how much you try to help an addict . They have to want it for themselves. Doctors can’t llegally force you to go to rehab. Most addicts know their resources, its just them being ready and wanting to change for themselves. The only way you can make someone get help is getting a court order. And that’s usually a waste of time & money sadly because the family wants it more than the addict.
What if this was your son? Whipple may have not made the best choices and I do not see on here where he was being quoted as a choir boy it still does not give the right for someone to beat him the way he was. Stop for a second and think how you would feel if this was your son or daughter you would want justice for something like that no matter what the mistake of your child or life style was. The unexpected death of William has left those who knew and loved him with a feeling of emptiness we can not describe. Our eyes fill with tears as we recall the extream pain he endured the last days of his life. The body and soul of a young man was taken from us way too early. My heart is heavy knowing he will never experience the gift of marriage, the gift of a child or his dream of returning to school. So excited for his 21 birthday yesterday he will never feel the happiness of such a important milestone. There are many important life events William will never know. He will not grow old nor will experience the gift of grandchildren. He will no longer have a chance to explore his future…
The information I and someone else have about that night William told us himself and in person after he got out of the ICU will be handled with an investigator on monday. Also the texts he sent to us we will be printing off to hand over to help with this case. #Justi For Whipple

What speculation? Val Flores attacked and beat William. He was bragging about it on social media sites. He should be arrested for the attack and sit in jail waiting for the autopsy results, as he could be responsible for the death also. Wake up Mason City police, do your job and arrest Flores.
Real life isn’t like a TV show. It takes more than an hr. and public hearsay to get an arrest warrant. Autopsy reports, investigation of information etc. all take time. This isn’t the only case being worked on.
I highly doubt that the kid posted that he beat a kid until he died from it. If you robbed a bank would you post that you robbed a bank? No because that’s absolute foolishness.
