MASON CITY – A former Polk county man convicted of a violent crime was caught stealing this week at Walmart in Mason City, where he now lives.
Brandon Kale Woodside, age 35, now calls the Cultural Crescent his home, residing in the 400 block of 2nd Street NW, not far from beautiful, expensive sculptures and not-so-stately homes parked amongst the weeds on State Street. Mr. Woodside was convicted in 2013 in Polk county after a person was seriously injured by him and instead of prison, was placed on probation (which he violated three times) and ordered to take an “assaultive behavior” class at a junior college. Records show he has paid exactly $0 of the $1,432.29 in fines and court fees the courts levied against him in that crime.
Brandon Woodside was caught stealing at Walmart in Mason City on the afternoon of August 6. Police arrested him on a charge of 5th degree theft. Woodside was wanted at the time of this arrest on a warrant connected to his arrest by Mason City police on July 6, also charged with 5th degree theft in that incident. He had failed to appear in court. He now awaits trials in both cases after not-guilty pleas and has been released from jail.
