According to sources, there has been some activities between an officer and a long-time female inmate.
When asked for detail on the matter (which was described to him in more detail), Sheriff Kevin Pals told NIT he “Can’t respond at this time.”
Since there is no official confirmation nor charges, NIT will not elaborate on the matter until there are further developments, if any.
Sheriff Pals will likely expand on the matter if and when he is able to do so.
Nit you have to admit that are a few bad apples that work as jailers/deputies out their. I have been in bars and some that work out there feel they are above the law. Drive drunk, start fights and know that they have the badge of honor with other law enforcements. Its a hidden code. Sheriff Joe has one code: I will break any prisoner when they come into my camp, and it’s not a place to have fun!
Please leave out names and / or job titles until more light is shed on this matter by Sheriff Pals. NIT has been given names and has no intention of revealing until there is confirmation. Now, there is a resignation at the jail effective in August, but this individual was not connected to the indecent, according to our sources.

Pals won’t respond to anything. He runs his jail like a prison and is just waiting for a lawsuit to nail his department to the wall. You can’t pretend you are for justice when you feel you can do anything to your inmates. It is a punishment system he runs, no justice whatsoever, so if you think anything other than a ‘resignation’ will happen, you are wrong.
It is a prison, not a rest facility. He runs it the way he is supposed to.
Im with ya LVS. A Jail is a bed and breakfast designed for the likes of Otis. The population out there now deserves hard time but our system keeps spinning them thru the revolving door. Im not defending any inappropriate relationships, just saying that it needs to be run like a prision, contrary to the opinion of Anon2.
He runs it way different than even our prisons do. The mission of any penal institution should be to rehabilitate the inmates. By refusing them the right to smoke, go outside, and take prescribed medicines, the department is making life unduly difficult for the inmate. Some day, someone is going to call Sheriff Pals on it, and a costly court case will be footed by the taxpayers.
It is illegal to smoke on public property. He is following the law. You should try it. It might keep you out of jail. Jail is not a rest home and not a school for the stupid. It is JAIL. They are being punished.

Anon2 – Are you nuts? Who in the hell is going to compromise an ongoing investigation and risk talking about it at this stage. Having said that, there may come a time when going public with the information is entirely appropropriate.

It happens. It is stupid when it does. Anyone who is in law enforcement should know the prisoners are always looking for a edge and will use anything they can against them. Hope it is not true.
