MASON CITY – A convicted sex offender is accused of injuring a woman at a North End residence after biting and attempting to strangle her.
Mason City police told NIT today that 61-year-old Wayne Leroy Everett was arrested after an incident earlier Thursday. The police spokesman said that Everett is accused of a assaulting a female on July 16 “by biting her chin, left forearm, right bicep and causing bruising to these areas. He is also accused of trying to strangle the victim around the neck which left redness.”
The incident occurred in the 900 block of 11th ST NE. When officers arrived, they found Everett outside the residence. He was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Mason City Fire Medics did respond to examine the victim, but she was not transported by ambulance.
Everett was transported to jail on the 2 charges: Willful Injury and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He is being held on bond as he awaits a July 24 court date.
Everett is a convicted sex offender. He was convicted in 2003 in Cerro Gordo county for indecent exposure, and in Minnesota in 2009 for third degree criminal sexual conduct.
