NIACC baseball, women’s track team ranked

niacc_trojans_logoMASON CITY – The NIACC women’s track and field team is ranked ninth this week in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll.

Last weekend at the Grand View Invitational, sophomore Adrine Monagi won two events Friday. She won the long jump with a leap of 5.29 meters and won the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.90 seconds.

Also for the NIACC women at Grand View, sophomore Sharon Toako was second in the javelin (38.09 meters) and the 4×100-meter relay team of Ellen Padmore, Rellie Kaputin, Monagi and Chione Brooks was second in 49.54 seconds.
The NIACC women return to action at the NJCAA Region XI meet Friday and Saturday in Council Bluffs.

The NIACC baseball team is ranked 20th in this week’s NJCAA Division II poll.

NIACC is 34-12 overall and 16-8 in the ICCAC heading into Wednesday’s nonconference doubleheader at the Wartburg College junior varsity.

NIACC sits in third place in the ICCAC heading into the Friday/Saturday four-game series at home against No. 9 Southeastern, which leads the ICCAC with a 19-5 mark.

It is the first time since the May 22, 2013 poll (19th) that the Trojans have been in the NJCAA Division II rankings.
