Four NIACC softball players earn second-team all-region honors

niacc_trojans_logoMASON CITY – Four NIACC softball players were selected to the NJCAA Region XI second-team.

Earning second-team honors were sophomores Nicole Young (catcher/utility), Janae Annetts (pitcher/infield) and Brittani Sanchez (utility) and freshman Allison Scott (infield).

Freshman Tricia Notermann (utility) and Rebecca Huberty (pitcher/infield) were honorable mention selections for the Lady Trojans, who were 18-30 in the 2015 season.

Young hit .326 with eight doubles, eight home runs and 38 RBIs. Young’s eight home runs are tied for fourth on NIACC’s single-season list.

Annetts hit .364 with nine doubles and 20 RBIs and led the team with 31 walks.

Sanchez hit .435 with 13 doubles, seven home runs (tied for seventh on school’s single-season list), three triples and drove in 26 runs. Sanchez had 20 career doubles, which is tied for sixth on the school’s all-time career list, and 10 career home runs, which is tied for fifth on the school’s career list.

Scott hit .310 with eight doubles and 26 RBIs.

Notermann hit .361 with 15 doubles (10th on school’s single-season list), seven home runs (tied for seventh on school’s single-season list), 23 RBIs and scored a team-high 42 runs.

Huberty was 9-13 with 66 strikeouts in 127 2/3 innings pitched.
