NIACC women’s track team ranked 8th

niacc_trojans_logoMASON CITY – The NIACC women’s track and field team remained ranked 8th this week in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll.

NIACC sophomore Adrine Monagi picked up a pair of first-place finishes and set two school records last Saturday at the University of Dubuque Invitational. Monagi won the 100-meter dash in 12.35 seconds and won the 400 in 57.42 to help lead the Lady Trojans to a fifth-place finish with 92 points.

Also for the NIACC women last Saturday, sophomore Rellie Kaputin won the high jump with a leap of 1.73 meters, freshman Sarah Snavely won the discus (39.53 meters) and sophomore Sharon Toako won the javelin (40.80 meters).

NIACC sophomore Hannah Palmeter ranks first in the 1,500 (4:37.32), ranks second in the 5,000 (18:06.07) and ranks 12th in the 800 (2:17.63).

The NIACC men’s and women’s track teams return to action Friday and Saturday at the Grand View University Invitational in Des Moines.
