Iowa man dead after vehicle vaults over field drive

logo-iowa-state-patrolDUBUQUE – An Iowa man was killed after his vehicle left a roadway in Dubuque county and struck a field drive.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2002 Ford Explorer pulling a tandem trailer driven 39-year-old Blue Aaron Schmitt of Denver Iowa, was traveling eastbound on Iowa Highway 3 at the 199 mile marker on April 15 at about 7:05 AM when the vehicle crossed the center line and continued off the roadway. The vehicle struck a field drive and vaulted, snapping the trailer off from the Explorer, which came to rest on its top. Schmitt was trapped inside and declared deceased. He was wearing a seatbelt.
