Five dead in Benton county auto accident

iowa-state-patrol-logo-doorURBANA, IOWA – Five persons inside a pickup truck were pronounced dead Thursday evening after their vehicle was struck by a semi truck.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 1997 Chevy 1500 pickup truck driven by 19-year-old Quentin Ray Ary of Vinton was traveling westbound on 55th Street just west of Urbana, Iowa Thursday at about 4 PM when the vehicle traveled west through the intersection at Highway 150. A semi truck driven by 56-year-old Jack Rodney Youde of Sutherland, Iowa struck the pickup truck, sending both vehicles into the north ditch.

Law enforcement arrived, and all five persons inside the pickup truck were pronounced dead at the scene. In addition to Ary, 17-year-old Triston James-Ray Randall of Urbana; 20-year-old Nicole Renee Jacobson of Vinton; 14-year-old Hunter William Tuttle of Vinton; and 12-year-old Zoey Lynne Tuttle of Vinton all perished. Only Ary was using a seatbelt at the time of the incident.

The Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate.
