MASON CITY – A Lake Mills woman caught red-handed stealing from an adult novelty store was given community service for her crime.
A theft was reported from Pure Pleasure, an adult novelty, video and bookstore located between Mason City and Clear Lake at 10480 265th Street, at about 2:07 PM March 9, 2015. A Cerro Gordo deputy was called to the store, who investigated the allegation, and found that 21-year-old Kelsey Kay Langfald attempted to conceal a sexual toy in her purse and the store’s sensormatic was activated as she left the store. A sheriff’s report says she admitted to trying to steal the item, valued at $69.99. As a result, she was arrested on a charge of fifth degree theft.
Langfald pleaded guilty to a charge of fifth degree theft on March 20. As part of a deferred judgement, she was sentenced to one year of probation, 10 hours of community service, and $285.00 in fines and court fees.
