AMES – An Iowa man suspected of robbing a bank in an Ames, Iowa Hy-Vee was nabbed in Austin, Minnesota Thursday.
According to Ames police, on Wednesday, March 18 at about 5:08 PM, police responded to a report of a robbery at the Midwest Heritage Bank, located inside the Hy-Vee store at 640 Lincoln Way. A male suspect demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Further investigation led police to suspect 55-year-ol Kirk Priest Matlock as the robber. He was believed to be driving a stolen gray pickup truck. Matlock was on escaped status from the Iowa Department of Corrections out of a Burlington, Iowa halfway house.
On Thursday evening, Ames police reported that Matlock was arrested in Austin, Minnesota and the stolen truck was also found. He is now charged with Theft 1st degree, a class “C” felony and Robbery 2nd degree, a class “C” felony.
