MASON CITY – A Mason City man pleaded guilty in a theft case and is now serving a jail sentence.
Brandon Wayne Hufstedler, age 29, was arrested on September 25, 2014, by Mason City police after they were called to investigate the possible theft of a computer. After an investigation, Hufstedler was jailed on a charge of felony second degree theft and soon released, pending a February, 2015 trial.
On February 17, 2015, Hufstedler entered a guilty plea to fourth degree theft. He was sentenced to two days in jail and ordered to pay $900.25 in fines and court costs. He was given a $50.00 per month payment plan.
Hufstedler is a convicted felon and was sent to an Iowa prison in 2006 after he pleaded guilty in a theft and forgery charge that involved Dollar General Stores. He still owes $2,603.16 to the courts and restitution in that case.
