MASON CITY – A wanted Mason City man was arrested in Floyd county and taken to the county jail after skipping his court date last month.
On January 12, at about 4:30 AM, police were called to 425 1st Street NE to investigate a harassment complaint. After an investigation, a Mason City man, 41-year-old Thomas Wayne Vanfossen, was arrested on charges of harassment in the third degree and driving while barred. Vanfossen was released soon thereafter on his own recognizance and was to be arraigned on February 11.
However, Vanfossen failed to appear in court, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was finally caught in Nora Springs Monday and transported Monday to the Cerro Gordo county jail. Vanfossen is also accused of violating the no-contact order set in the case.
Vanfossen is being held on $2,000.00 cash-only bond at this time as he awaits a court date.
