Minneapolis cops arrest man prohibited from carrying a gun

9-mm-gun-01MINNEAPOLIS – An alert Minneapolis police officer spotted a man removing a gun from his waistband and arrested him.

According to Minneapolis police, on March 15th, 2015 just before 12:30 AM, officers for the Minneapolis 4th Precinct responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 22nd Avenue North and 4th Street North. Squads arrives shortly after the call was aired and officers observed a male party get into the front passenger seat of a car. As he did that he appeared to be removing something from the waistband. Once he was in the car, the male appeared to be reaching under the front seat.

An officer who was close to the car stopped the individual and found that the male party was placing a loaded 9 millimeter handgun under the front seat. Check on the individual showed that he is a prohibited person for possessing a gun. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center.

A search of the vehicle yielded possible evidence that these individuals may be involved in other crimes.

The Minneapolis Police Department said that an enhanced ShotSpotter system, alert citizens and quick response from officers “yielded another great arrest with one more gun off the street.”
