State Patrol calls for back up to arrest Mason City man

MASON CITY – A State Patrol trooper attempted to arrest a Mason City man early Saturday and requested backup from other law enforcement when the arrest didn’t go smoothly.

A traffic stop was conducted by an Iowa State Patrol trooper at about 1:42 AM in front of the home of 23-year-old Sean Patrick Secora, at 225 Parkridge Drive. Mason City police and Cerro Gordo deputies then responded when the trooper requested backup as he attempted to make the arrest of Secora.

Once more law enforcement arrived on the scene, Secora was arrested on charges of operating while intoxicated and interference with official acts. He was taken to the county jail, booked, and quickly released.

Secora has been charged at least ten times with alcohol-related law breaking, and once with public urination in Iowa City, to which he pleaded guilty. His most recent arrest was in March of 2014, when he was taken to jail along with a woman after a domestic incident in the area of 10th Street and North Delaware Avenue in Mason City. He pleaded guilty to public intoxication.
