Mason City man guilty of felony drunk driving

MASON CITY – A Mason City man who was arrested last summer for drunk driving has pleaded guilty to a felony and is now serving his jail sentence.

Arturo M. Pesina, age 28, was stopped by Cerro Gordo deputies on July 4, 2014, just before midnight, near Highway 65 and 300th Street. During the stop, deputies determined that Pesina was a barred driver, had no insurance and had an open container of booze. He was arrested and cared with felony third offense operating while intoxicated, driving while barred, open container and no insurance.

On February 10, 2015, Pesina accepted a plea deal. He pleaded guilty to felony third offense drunk driving, while the driving while barred, no insurance and open container charges were dismissed. He was sent to jail for 30 days, ordered to pay $4,408.74 in fines and court fees and must submit a DNA sample to be kept on file. He was placed on probation for 5 years.

Pesina is now in the county jail, serving his jail sentence with work release.
