BENTON COUNTY – A woman died after a crash in rural Benton county Thursday evening.
On March 12, 2015, a one vehicle fatality crash occurred around 6:00PM at 7793 30th Ave., in rural Benton County.
The driver of the vehicle was southbound on 30th Ave. when he lost control, entered the east ditch and began to roll. Christine L. Ballard, 20, of Marengo, IA, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 23 year old Mark D. Himmelsbach of rural Norway, IA, was air lifted to the U of I Hospital in Iowa City.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and first responders from Norway and Blairstown. The crash remains under investigation.
