DES MOINES – The Vision Iowa Board awarded $100,000 in Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grants for an aquatic center in Nora Springs.
The grant was approved by the Vision Iowa Board at Wednesday’s meeting in Des Moines.
The following project was approved for grants awarded from the CAT Fund:
Nora Springs Municipal Aquatic Center
Total Project Cost: $3,571,600
Amount Requested: $100,000
Amount Awarded: $100,000
Award Contingencies: Completed fundraising within 30 days
Project Description: This project includes the construction of a new aquatic center with a 6,265 square-foot pool with zero depth entry, current channel, basketball hoops, log roll, climbing wall, diving, an enclosed slide, floatables, family slide, sunshades and a concession stand.
The Vision Iowa Program provides financial incentives to communities for the construction of recreational, cultural, educational or entertainment facilities that enhance the quality of life in Iowa. Currently, 398 CAT awards have been granted by the board, totaling $150,725,089. The next Vision Iowa Board meeting is scheduled for April 8, 2015, in Algona.
