CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man is facing his second drunk driving charge since December 28 after he was caught early Sunday morning behind the wheel, allegedly intoxicated.
Charles City police conducted a traffic stop on March 8 at about 1:15 AM near Clark Street and St. Mary’s Street. Police discovered 42-year-old Herbert Hoover Hodge Jr. behind the wheel, an unlicensed driver, who was determined to be intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with first offense operating while intoxicated, no insurance and driving while license revoked. He was released from jail the same day.
On December 28, officers with the Charles City police department conducted traffic stop at the 1200 block of South Grand Avenue. During the traffic stop, officers determined that the driver, Hodge Jr., was an unlicensed driver, was intoxicated and that he possessed an open container of alcohol. He was arrested that day, as well, and charged with first offense operating while intoxicated. He later entered a guilty plea but has not yet been sentenced.
