FBI offers reward for info leading to return of kidnapped American in Iran

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On the eighth anniversary of Robert A. Levinson’s disappearance from Kish Island, Iran, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has increased the reward to up to five million dollars for information that leads to his location and safe return.

“Today we mark eight years since Bob disappeared in Iran, and we are increasing the reward for his location and safe return to his family,” said FBI Director James B. Comey. “We ask anyone with information to contact the FBI. It is long past time for Bob to come home.”

On March 8, 2007, Robert Levinson traveled to Kish Island, Iran. The next day he went missing and his whereabouts remain unknown. Mr. Levinson is now one of the longest held Americans in history. Mr. Levinson, who will turn 67 on March 10, retired as a special agent of the FBI in 1998.

The FBI has been conducting an investigation to locate Mr. Levinson since his disappearance. Three years ago, on the fifth anniversary of his disappearance in March 2012, the FBI announced a one million dollar reward.
