Northwood man arrested on serious charges in Mason City (video)

MASON CITY – Law enforcement converged on a traffic stop to take a wanted man into custody Saturday night.

Sheriff Kevin Pals along with his Cerro Gordo deputies were called to assist Mason City police with a traffic stop at about 8:30 PM Saturday night near South Penn Avenue and 13th Street SE. At the scene, police had stopped a man with a long rap sheet, 26-year-old Joseph Michael Evenson, who claims to live in Northwood.

Evenson was wanted on charges of felony first degree burglary, assault while participating in a felony and assault causing injury. He was taken to the county jail and is being held on $35,000 bond as he awaits a March 13 court date.
