MASON CITY – Police were called to the Faraway grocery store in Mason City Saturday afternoon for a man caught stealing.

Police were summoned to Faraway, 400 North Delaware Avenue, Saturday at about 1:20 PM for a detained shoplifter that was said to be uncooperative. Two squad cars soon arrived, and after police went inside, an investigation into the incident led to a charge of fifth degree theft against 53-year-old Mark James Niedermayer of Mason City.
