IOWA CITY – Iowa avenged an earlier road loss to Northwestern Saturday afternoon, beating the Wildcats in this season’s final home game, 69-52.
Iowa finishes the regular season 21-10 overall and 12-6 in league play and was once again lead by Aaron White who scored 25 points and snagged 8 rebounds.
“He’s been tremendous. He’s been playing like one of the best players in the conference and in the country,” point guard Mike Gesell said about White.
Iowa improves to 20-1 when scoring 64+ points this season and has won six straight Big Ten games for the first time since 1987.
“We’ve made a lot of improvements on things we weren’t doing early this year and it’s paying off,” center Adam Woodbury said.
“We’ve been playing together offensively, defensively, communicating — it’s been a great run,” junior guard Jared Uthoff said of the Hawkeyes’ recent good fortunes.
Iowa now awaits seeding in next week’s Big Ten Tournament. They could be as high as a #4 seed.
