COUNCIL BLUFFS – An Iowa man snoozed behind the wheel, causing him to cross an interstate highway and roll his vehicle several times.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 19-year-old Zach Thomas of Council Bluffs was traveling northbound on Interstate 29 in Fremont county when he fell asleep behind the wheel. Thomas took evasive action as his 2007 Ford Ranger pickup veered into the median. The pickup fish-tailed and rolled several times as it crossed the interstate and entered a ditch. The pickup came to rest upside down on a fence.
Thomas was taken to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt.
