MASON CITY – The NIACC women’s basketball team is ranked sixth in this week’s NJCAA Division II poll.
NIACC (21-5 overall, 10-2 in the ICCAC) topped Iowa Lakes 70-67 and Ellsworth 87-64 last week. The Lady Trojans host Southwestern on Thursday in their final regular season home game.
The Lady Trojans wrap up the regular season Saturday at Southeastern and open NJCAA Region XI tournament play on March 3 at home.
It’s the 23nd consecutive poll that the NIACC women have been ranked in the top 10. The last time the Lady Trojans were not ranked in the top 10 was the Oct. 28, 2013 preseason poll.
Parkland College (27-1) remained in the top spot in this week’s rankings.
Ranked ahead of NIACC in this week’s poll are (in order) Parkland College, Owens CC (27-1), Illinois Central (26-3), Kansas City (Kansas) CC (27-2) and Johnson County CC (27-2).
