MASON CITY – A Mason City woman who was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop near Burchinal has pleased guilty and is in jail.
Christopher Lee Evenson, age 31 with no permanent address, and Dawn Marie Porter, age 46 of Mason City, were stopped on August 17, 2014 at about 9:00 PM by a Cerro Gordo county deputy at 11901 2nd Street in Burchinal. After an investigation, the deputy discovered drugs in the car and placed both persons under arrest.
Porter was charged with second offense possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of prescription drugs. On January 7, Porter pleaded guilty to a charge of second offense possession of a controlled substance, while the charge of unlawful possession of prescription drugs was dismissed. She was sentenced to 365 days in jail with 363 suspended. She was ordered to pay $1,138.75 in fines and court costs and given a year of probation.
Evenson was charged with several drug crimes including possession with intent to deliver. The charges against him were dismissed.
