Iowa sex offender charged with lying to police about his whereabouts

CHARLES CITY – An Iowa sex offender who victimized a child has apparently been on the loose with authorities in the dark about his whereabouts – until now.

James Charles Null, age 36, was convicted in Linn county back in 1998 for lascivious acts with a female child 0-13 years of age. His last known location, according to Iowa authorities, was in Charles City but not exactly known. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office on October 22 filed a complaint in court, and a warrant for his arrest was issued. Null was charged with violating the state’s sex offender registry for at least the second time, and an arraignment was set for January 6, 2015, even as Null remained at-large.

Null was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail around 11 PM Monday night, facing three felonies and held on $20,000 bond.

Null had been sent to prison on May of 2012 until March of 2014, also for violations of the state’s sex offender registry.
