Senate report details CIA use of torture

jailWASHINGTON – A report released today by the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee outlines the barbaric use of torture by CIA interrogators and says it wasn’t effective.

The report goes into detail on the use of interrogation tactics used by the CIA after the 9-11 attacks in 2001.  The graphic nature of the report has U.S. armed forces on high alert all across the globe today, officials said.

On September 17, 2001, President Bush signed a covert action granting the CIA unprecedented counterterrorism authorities, including the authority to covertly capture and detain individuals “posing a continuing, serious threat of violence or death to U.S. persons and interests or planning terrorist activities.”

The report says that the CIA’s use of its enhanced interrogation techniques on suspected terrorists it began to detain was not an effective means of acquiring intelligence or gaining cooperation from detainees.  Some of the techniques described in the report were waterboarding, sleep deprivation, painful posture positions, deprivation of food and water, threats of a sexual nature, and pouring liquefied food into the rectums of detainees (“rectal rehydration”), ice water baths and more.  The CIA’s justification for the use of its enhanced interrogation techniques rested on inaccurate claims of their effectiveness.

These coercive interrogation techniques had either not been approved by the Department of Justice or had not been authorized by CIA Headquarters.

The report says that the CIA repeatedly provided inaccurate information to the Department of Justice, impeding a proper legal analysis of the CIA’s Detention and Interrogation Program and the CIA has actively avoided or impeded congressional and executive branch oversight of the program.

I don’t feel bad for any of those terrorists you old fool. They should face punishment like any other criminal. I am not for treating others the way they would treat us because that makes us no better than them. I, unlike you, believe that we should be above that kind of thing.Part of that is my Christian upbringing, part is my belief in honor.

This is nothing more than a attempt by the white house and it’s supporters to divert attention away from all of the Obama scandles.

LVS, I looked at several sites. The report says President Bush was lied to about the CIA’s actions. Dick Cheney was the go to guy on this one. And, John McCain, a staunch Republican, said the findings were disturbing. Secretary of State Kerry didn’t think it was a good idea to release the findings. Did you know he is a Democrat? Maybe someone can read this link to you over the next few months.

Kerry was not the only democrat that was disturbed over releasing this. There were quite a few who din’t like it as it does nothing but give our enemy’s something to rally around. It will be on their heads if Americans or some of our allies are killed over something that means nothing. Holder has already declined to prosecute because there is nothing there. It is a insult to the men and women of the CIA who are trying to protect us.

Keep drinking the kool-aid.

@Bodacious-It must be terribly demeaning to be wrong as much as you are. You should probably take more anti-depressants to relieve your mental disability.

LVS, the problem is they actually think that they are right. They have been so deceived by satan himself that they would probably off themselves once they realize what they have done.

@Maybe-It is such a shame that they are so blind and dumb. They just can’t get it through their dense heads they are being scammed.

I know that many Dems didn’t think it was a good idea to release the report. But, this is the U.S. We shouldn’t have to resort to torture. All that does is make us equal to our enemies. Torture is wrong any way you put it. We should be above that. As far as the CIA is concerned, if you read the reports, they continuously falsified reports, hid information, lied and protected themselves. No agency of our government should do that. They need to be held accountable.

I guess you and maybe must believe that the ends justify the means. And that is what is wrong with that way of thinking. The solution to a problem isn’t found by lying and cheating and torture unless we are a lawless state where anything goes.

when obama was elected they did this report and the DOJ decided that there was no evidence of wrongdoing. Now that the democrats have lost the senate they want to release the report to the world even though the DOJ said there was nothing wrong. To me it sounds like a spoiled kid throwing a tantrum, if I can’t have it then you can’t have it.

And a loser like you wants to condone and sympathize with woman and child killers who have killed thousand of Americans right here in our country and continue to murder and behead people all over the world. And you want to feel bad for them. What a damn fool you are. You poor paranoid sissy.

According to the experts, when obama was elected and they did this report there havent been any torture used since then and before they stopped they did get alot of information from that technique. These terrorists only understand force and thats what we had to do. These bleeding heart liberals would rather let a terrorist go free so he can kill more americans than make him go a few days without sleep or give him an upside down shower.

This report was NOT released by the Intelligence Committee at all. It was released by the Democrats only to try to discredit the Republicans. It is a completely bogus report with most of it made up by the Democrats. No surprise there.

Proven wrong once again LVS.

@bodacious-Are you really that dumb or are you trying to outdo Philospussv? None of the Republicans signed off on this farce. It is nothing but a ploy by the democratic losers in the senate that no longer have a job. You tin god Holder has investigated this for years and can not find any reason to charge anyone. If you can’t post anything that makes sense don’t pots anything at all. We know you are a idiot and I guess we can add traitor and coward to that.

Ha Ha Ha

Add STUPID as well.

If none of the Republicans signed off on it, how did it get out? And the co-chair is a Republican; Mitch McConnell is one of 9 Republican members of the committee. The committee is stating that the use of torture isn’t working. How is that partisan politics? Your hatred of those who don’t think like you is clouding your reason. This really has nothing to do with politics.

Why don’t you get off the left wing sites and listen to the news so you can be informed. It was a Feinstein deal all the way. It is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. It was all hashed over in 2009 and even Holder had to admit there was nothing there to bring charges on. The committee was informed all the way through and now wants to claim the knew nothing about it. Typical Democrats.
