Former Mississippi man remains jailed in domestic assault case

MASON CITY – A former Mississippi man remains jailed after a domestic incident last month.

Officers were dispatched to 319 South Rhode Island Avenue at about 5:11 PM November 24 after a call about a domestic disturbance. Police arrived and after an investigation, took Marquay Leneco George, age 37, to jail on a charge of aggravated domestic assault.

George is still being held on $5,000 bond (10%). A Preliminary hearing is now scheduled for December 15. Also, on December 8, a petition for relief from domestic abuse was granted to George’s alleged victim. A deputy served the order to George in the jail.

George arrived in Mason City via Winnebago county and prior to that, Tunica county, Mississippi, where he was charged with felony embezzlement in 2013.
