Des Moines cops catch bank robber

DES MOINES – Des Moines police detectives have made an arrest in the investigation into a bank robbery Monday where a woman walked into a bank, demanded money and then walked out.

Des Moines Police Officers responded to a bank robbery at the US Bank at 115 E. Euclid at 4:12 PM Monday afternoon.

A white female adult suspect described as approximately 5’ 8” and 180 lbs entered the bank wearing a white coat with fur-trimmed hood, a black stocking hat with the word “LOVE” and red rimmed eye glasses. She was carrying a lap-top style shoulder bag. The suspect handed a note to the teller demanding cash then left northbound on foot after receiving the money. No weapon was shown.

After investigators received a tip on the identity of the suspect, Debra Nicole Hancock, age 28 of Newton, was positively identified. Detectives made contact with her and she confessed to the crime during questioning. They recovered the clothing worn during the robbery as well as most of the money taken and confiscated a newly purchase television.

Ms. Hancock is charged with felony first degree robbery 1st degree.
