After second burglary scare, resident waits for cops with baseball bat

investigateMASON CITY – Citizens are apparently arming themselves in any way they can to fight off the bad guys.

For the second time in just a few days, a burglary attempt was reported to police at a rental house at 116 9th Street NW. Early Sunday morning at about 1:16 AM, an emergency call was made by a resident there, saying a black male suspect in a black leather coat had tried to get into her house. The would-be burglar was apparently scared off by the resident and fled, running between the houses, police were told. The resident told police she would be waiting for them, outside, with a baseball bat, to fill out a report.

The resident requested special attention after Sunday’s near-break-in, since it wasn’t the first time a crook came calling.

According to a report, the same resident called police back on November 25. The resident reported that someone had entered her apartment while she was gone, and the door was standing open. Officers secured the apartment and nothing was found

That area has really gone down in the last few years. Those fine old homes have all been turned into apartments and it tells. The core of the city is getting more and more like a ghetto every day.
