Trial of Rockford man accused of sexual abuse of child postponed indefinitely

CHARLES CITY – A Rockford man accused of six sexual abuse charges involving a child has had his trial delayed indefinitely.

Records show that 42-year-old Brent Michael Drees was set for a jury trial in Floyd county court on January 27, 2015. However, Drees’ lawyer, Tim LaPointe, filed for a continuance. No new trial date has been set, but a pre-trial conference will be held on January 12.

Drees is charged with five counts of felony C third degree sexual abuse, one charge of felony B second degree sexual abuse and one charge of child endangerment. The alleged victim was between the ages of 12-13 years old. The alleged crimes took place in 2013, in March, July and August.

Drees, who worked in Mason City as a mechanic when he was arrested, remains jailed in the Floyd County Jail on $130,000 cash-only bond.
