MASON CITY – Police confirmed what many already know, that a Mason City man died as a result of a hit-and-run accident on the evening of November 22 at a busy intersection in Mason City.
Jefferson Davis, age 43, was killed when the Harley-Davidson motorcycle he was operating was allegedly struck by a pick-up truck driven by a wanted man, 47-year-old Victor Rivera. A passenger on the Harley, 40-year-old Nicole Lynn Shariff of Mason City, was seriously injured as a result of the collision. She was hospitalized at Mercy.
Police said that several good samaritans tried to render aid to the two victims of the crash; CPR was administered on both victims at the crash site prior to ambulances arriving. Police said that witness cooperation has been very helpful in determining what happened that night.
Police said that the investigation into the collision is still on-going, and they are seeking witnesses to that incident, or anyone who might know of Rivera’s activities prior to the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call the Mason City police department at 641-421-3636.

If I read it right he has seven charges against him now. I think they are still investigating the incident (I will NOT call it a accident) to make sure they get it right. He isn’t going anywhere.
That’s what I wanna know why is he not been charged yet? On mugshots there is no charge pertaining to this incident? Also if he had 5 outstanding warrants shouldn’t the cops have been looking for him hard????? Look what it took for them to nab him…maybe if he had been locked up where he should’ve been those 5 children would still have a father here with us.

I would assume that law enforcement is in no hurry because this character is going nowhere anytime soon. He is being held on lots of serious charges. Just give police and prosecutors time to do their job thoroughly on this case, there is no huge rush. Being in a hurry can cause a mistake that cannot be undone. It will make for a stronger case if they investigate thoroughly.
The judges will probably turn him loose tomorrow.
No LVS, this guy is more than likely going away for 10 years or more. I’ll guess he’ll be given a 30 year sentence and will serve about 15.
He took a life due to his negligence. He should get life with no parole. Being the way I am, he should get the death penalty if we had it.
He’s probably got a perpetual get out of jail card, given to him by our president…
Why hasn’t this piece of shit been charged with murder? He needs to be charged so he cant get out on bail, just a waste of flesh. Innocent ones are always the ones hurt.
