MASON CITY – A Mason City man is in jail on a charge of drunk driving for the fifth time.
Sidney Arthur Riekens, age 64, was brought to the Cerro Gordo County Jail late Thursday for drunk driving. He has been caught four times previously, the last time on May 29, 2012. He ws charged with felony third offense drunk driving, but was able to plead to a lesser charge of first offense operating while intoxicated. Court records show Riekens has been convicted of 2nd offense operating while intoxicated in Cerro Gordo County on three occasions between 1999 and 2005.
Riekens is being held on $5,000 cash bond at this time.

What the hell, I don’t understand how the system works. Convicted of 2nd offense three times??? This is an accident waiting to happen. If you need to drink until your stupid, drink at home. You just don’t get it do you Sidney.
@Allen-It is called plea bargain. The courts do not want a trial by jury and will off a reduced charge to get out of it. Even if they do put them in jail they serve less than 1/3rd of their time. They go in and get all the medical and dental treatment they need and then get out on parole and disability and live off the rest of us for nothing.
LVS must be a really rich guy to be “supporting” all these welfare cases. What old goat doesn’t understand is money is imaginary and printed at will, and an abundance of surpluses due to robotification and mechanization has been allocated per need to fill employment reductions. Machines produce 500 guitars a day and not 50 like hand labor used to. Manufacturing “manager” my ass he was.
Technology explosion surpassed lifespans and so an abundance of unneeded workers left idle hands to be filled by the prison, law enforcement complex. In another few generations population numbers will correct themselves according to new manufacturing allotment requirements. He should know all this, but he doesn’t.
I bet this guy might have a drinking problem. Skid a cab is cheaper. Have fun in the slammer.
