BURLINGTON – Police and state investigators are looking into what they call the “suspicious death” of a 22-day-old infant.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, the Burlington Police Department, Department of Human Services, the Burlington Fire Department, Burlington Ambulance, a State Medical Examiner Investigator and the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner are investigating the suspicious death of a 22-day-old infant that died at home in rural Des Moines County over the weekend.
An autopsy is being performed to assist in understanding the child’s passing. Results from that autopsy may take several months. No further details are available until the autopsy is completed.
