MASON CITY – A Mason City man who pled guilty lat month to dealing marijuana and was sent to live at the Beje Clark halfway house on probation is already accused of violating his probation.
On June 5, 2014 the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force and the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve several arrest warrants issued for several drug investigations conducted over previous months by that law enforcement agency. Caught that day was 30-year-old Adam Andrew Mertz, who was charged with two counts of delivery of marijuana. He later pled guilty to one of the charges (the other was dismissed) on October 13 and received 180 days in Beje Clark, 5 year suspended prison sentence, a suspended $750 fine and 3 years of probation.
On November 9, a probation violation was reported to judge Karen Salic, who had sentenced Mertz. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and Mason City police found him at Beje Clark on Monday afternoon and took him to jail. He is being held until he can be placed back in Beje Clark until his court date on December 12.
