WATERLOO – Iowa Congressman Bruce Braley will soon be out of Washington D.C., having given up his seat in the House of Representatives and coming up short against Joni Ernst in the race for U.S. Senate.

Braley said Wednesday that election day “was a tough day” for himself and is supporters.

“I’m disappointed in the results of the race, but I can’t tell you how proud I am of the work you’ve done for me and this campaign.

“Your efforts helped build an amazing grassroots network, the best and most organized I’ve ever seen. From Sioux City, to Indianola, to Mason City, to Burlington, our volunteers worked so incredibly hard. We talked to thousands of Iowa voters. We put in the long days and even longer nights. Watching this network grow and being a part of it has truly been one of the best experiences of my life.”

Braley said his efforts won’t stop just because he lost the election.  He still has about 2 months left to serve in Washington.

“I built my career around helping middle class Iowa families. And while I won’t be heading to the Senate in January, the issues we fought for during this campaign are still on the table. With your help, the work we started will continue.

“I want to say again how grateful and proud I am for your constant support during these months. I couldn’t have gotten this far without you.”
