MASON CITY – A Mason City man in jail accused of felony domestic assault and held on an immigration hold will be arraigned this week.
Mason City police were called to 604 North Massachusetts at about 3:30 AM on October 26 to investigate a domestic assault. Police determined that 36-year-old Claudio Mateo had committed domestic assault which included strangulation, a felony crime in Iowa. He was arrested and taken to jail, where an immigration hold was placed on him to check on his citizenship status.
An arraignment date was set last week in court for November 5, 2014.
