MASON CITY – A Belmond woman who was jailed for drunk driving and bringing drugs into the jail will face a trial in December.
Tabitha Lynne Hembree, age 23, was stopped by a Mason City police officer on September 28 at about 2:26 AM and arrested for drunk driving near 4th Street SW and Pierce Avenue. She was taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail in Mason City and as she was being booked at about 4:00 AM, a deputy discovered a controlled substance – marijuana. A charge of possession of a controlled substance and a felony D charge of attempting to possess and convey contraband were added.
At an arraignment on October 22, Hembree pled not guilty. A trial date of December 30 was set. She has been appointed a public defender.
