Minnesota Twins fire Ron Gardenhire

twins logoMINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota Twins announced Monday that they will replace Ron Gardenhire as manager in 2015.

Twins President Dave St. Peter said it was a “tough day inside Twins family. So grateful for what Ron Gardenhire has contributed – on and off the field – since joining org in 1987. Ton of W’s, developed many players, but’s it’s the way Gardy treats people that I will always remember.”

Gardenhire was the 2010 American League Manager of the Year.

He led the Twins to 6 division titles over 13 seasons at the helm, but a fourth straight 90-loss season was all the Twins organization could take. His overall record was was 1,047-1,007 as Twins manager, with a 6-21 record in the post-season.

How about getting a new GM also and hire a up and coming young buck to get this team fired up.

Someone has to take the rap when they lose like they have been doing I guess it was his turn. Hopefully the next guy will get them back on track. Losing becomes a habit after awhile.

Ron is not the problem, they have player problems. Gardie is a great spokesman for the team and was good. He had nothing to work with. If they want to win, give the manager something to work with. The farm team concept isn’t working for them.

They need to go out and sign some proven players outside the farm system they have and spend some money. Until that happens, a Manager change will not help. I would be surprised that anyone would be interested in that job. It is a set up to fail.

@john-You are probably correct. I must confess I do not follow them very much. Lost interest a couple of years ago. Something is wrong that is for sure.
