Assault charge against Iowa City school board member dropped

IOWA CITY – An Iowa City school board member accused of assault has been cleared after the alleged male victim asked that the charge be dropped.

According to a police report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, on September 6 after 1:20 AM, Toyet Nguyen Dorau, age 34, struck a male subject with a clothes hanger and physically attacked him as he tried to subdue her during an altercation. She also reportedly kicked him in the stomach. The male suffered scratches and redness on his abdomen.

Dorau was arrested and charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury.

Leading up to the incident, Dorau reportedly had lost her job in recent days at University of Iowa Hospitals.

On September 16 via social media, Dorau reported that “Charge dismissed! Homage to Nietzsche. He did say, ‘That which does not kill us makes us stronger.'”
