NIACC cross country teams ranked fourth

MASON CITY – Both the NIACC men’s and women’s cross country teams are ranked fourth in the initial NJCAA poll of the season released Friday.

NIACC is tied with Pratt Community College for fourth in the men’s poll with 113 points. Iowa Western, Iowa Central and Allen County CC are the top three teams.

At the NJCAA Region XI time trial on Aug. 23, Iowa Western was first with 33 points, Iowa Central was second with 44 points and NIACC was third with 76 points.

In the women’s poll, NIACC is ranked fourth with 119 points. Iowa Central is ranked first, Vincennes University is second and Pratt CC is third.

At the regional time trial, Iowa Central was first with 35 points. NIACC placed second with 61 points and Iowa Western was third with 67 points.

Both NIACC teams return to action Sept. 13. The NIACC men run at the Grinnell College Les Duke Invitational (8-kilometer) and the NIACC women run at the Luther College all-American meet (5K).
