Wanted Iowa man tries to flee cops on bicycle before being caught

CLERMONT, IA – A wanted Iowa man locked himself in his house then tried to flee cops on his bicycle before being caught and arrested.

On August 27, 2014, at approximately 7:00 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to arrest Matthew Daniel Durnan, age 40 of Clermont, on two Fayette County warrants when the defendant fled on foot leading Deputies on a short foot chase to his residence in Clermont. Durnan then locked himself inside and refused to come out after multiple verbal commands. He then left his house and attempted to flee on a bicycle. He was quickly apprehended by deputies and was arrested and transported to the Fayette County Sheriff’ s Office on a warrant for violation of a domestic abuse no contact order, and another warrant for failure to appear on domestic abuse charges. Durnan was also charged with interference with official acts. Durnan bonded out of the Fayette County Jail the next day and awaits an upcoming court date.
