Assault charge against city assessor dropped

MASON CITY – A domestic assault charge against the Mason City Assessor has been dropped.

Danielle Elizabeth Naumann, age 38, was charged with serious domestic assault, a serious misdemeanor, after an incident on July 17 involving her boyfriend. The man had called police to report a domestic situation sometime around 1:30 AM that morning at a residence at 1209 15th Street SE. Police were already en route when Naumann herself called police. Upon arrival, officers investigated the situation and determined that due to the injuries sustained by the male victim, Naumann was the primary aggressor. The injuries to the man did not require medical attention, but were significant enough to warrant a serious misdemeanor charge.

However, court records indicate that on August 13, the domestic assault charge against Naumann was dropped and a no-contact order between Naumann and her alleged victim was lifted.

Since the alleged incident, Naumann has been back at work in her capacity as city assessor, busily completing her task in assessing the value of all residential and commercial properties in Mason City at the behest of City Hall, the school board and the county supervisors, at a cost of roughly $1 million to taxpayers.

Apparently, it’s okay to leave several bite marks and fingernail gouges on your victim, plus break doors, glass tables and 72″ televisions. You know what they say….it isn’t who you know…it’s who you blow…

Whew! She almost lost her carry permit – big deal domestic assault when applying for a carry permit.

Why is it that in this town anyone who works hard and prospers is automatically labeled as one of the “elite” and therefor if they get in a jam and found not to be at fault it is assumed it was because of their pull? What pull? Just because you are have a high profile job or a little extra money does not mean you are important or have influence. So many comments on this site just sound like sour grapes (disparagement of something that has proven unattainable) to me.

Out of all these comments, the only one that makes any sense is LVS. They obviously did not have a case.

2old2fat…You are an idiot.
Learn to spell and some proper grammar. Her boyfriend didn’t press charges. It was the City. He could not have dropped the charges if he had wanted.

AGS…I would guess her IQ is much higher than yours just by reading your opinions! I bet you and 2old2fat still write in crayon!

If he refused to participate in the prosecution, they likely would have had no choice but to drop the charges. Speculation is fun but LVS is correct. They likely didn’t have enough evidence to prosecute. There could be lots of reasons including that there simply was no evidence.

Hey Question, before you start touting your high level of intelligence and criticizing others, let me explain something to you. It’s not the City as you have presented, but rather the State who presses the charges and decides whether or not to drop them. Idiots shouldn’t call others idiots.

Shes a very empotent person to the mayor and she prolly gave her boyfriend a little lovin and he dropped charges. Such a lovely girl. We really need more of these people in our government offices. RIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

…I am thinking that this might be a “pay-off” for “busily getting back to figuring ‘new’ taxes” for use by the school board and the city in finding “both” need more money in the not too distant future…!

They must not have had a case against her.

This is great news. North Iowa Today should replace the MUG SHOT with a more appropriate picture.

WHAT A SURPRISE! Goes to show in this town SOMEPEOPLE can get by with this type of stuff.Good thing this didn’t happen on N
. side of town or they both would of went to jail.Think about it that is the way it is done around here. You wouldn’t want to press charges against one of your own govt. employee.Such crap.she has to be not smart to begin with.Get back to figuring new tax on property now.Just an opinion, don’t have too agree with me though.

I agree. It’s always who you are and who you know in this town. It’s sickening.
