CHARLES CITY – Police in Charles City said they are closing in on a thief who stole a purse out of an unlocked vehicle and then used the food stamp card at a local business.
According to police, on July 2nd at about 11:13 AM, officers took a report from a victim at the 1200 block of D Street who claimed that her purse was stolen out of her unlocked vehicle, which was parked in the 500 block of 11th Street. Soon thereafter, an Iowa foodstamp card was then used by a subject at a business on Kelly Street.
Charles City Police Captain Hugh Anderson said that police are still working on the case, but are “hoping to have charges this week if all goes well.”
